Mountain Dew Cake

I have a scrapbook club in Danville, WV filled with some of the BEST women on the face of this planet! They are passionate about papercrafting and GOOD FOOD! Here is a recipe I got from Claire in Danville. I made it for the girls at my workshop last night. Super easy to make - and "melt in your mouth" good to eat! I didn't have time to run to the store, but next time I'd serve it with fresh berries and a mint sprig and maybe a small dollop of whipped cream!

Claire's Mountain Dew Cake

1 box Yellow Cake Mix (any brand)
½ cup Mountain Dew Soda
4 eggs
1 box Instant Vanilla Pudding (large box)
½ cup water
½ cup vegetable oil

Mix above ingredients. Pour into a greased and floured Bundt cake pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 50-60 minutes. While the cake is baking, mix the glaze. You want to mix this during the last 20 minutes the cake is baking so it will still be warm to pour on the cake.

Glaze:
1 stick butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
¼ cup Mountain Dew Soda

Bring the above 3 ingredients to a boil. When cake is done, remove from oven, but DO NOT remove from the pan yet. Use a skewer or bamboo stick and punch lots of holes over entire cake, pour warm glaze over entire cake while cake is still hot. Wait a few minutes to allow glaze to soak in. Remove cake from pan and serve! (Optional: serve with fresh berries and mint sprigs.)

High Tea & Imagine

I was so honored and felt so special to be invited to join my friend Nicole and her family at Ferguson's Tea Room in Hurricane. Even the guys loved it! Little Cooper was so cute adding sugar cubes to just about everything, including his water, and stirring until it was "just right".

This was the layout we did at our Imagine Club this past week called Sideline Surprise. I would never have thought to angle my photos on the side like that. I just LOVE our how-to books!! I used our Silhouette Creative Basics paper for this layout. I love the classic elegance of this paper pack!

I used one of our white paper flowers from the Just Blooms-Big Pinks collection, added a dimensional element from Perennials (inked with Bamboo), added a clear button and then one of our Designer Pewter Brads. The sentiment is from our Picture Perfect stamp set. PERFECT for layouts!

I used one of our CTMH font cd's for my journaling and then added a little flourish stamp from our Dream Wishes stamp set! Again, the sentiment above the journaling is from the Picture Perfect stamp set. (Sorry about the flash.)

All supplies CTMH unless otherwise noted:
Paper: Silhouette Creative Basics, Bamboo, Black and Colonial White cardstock
Ink: Black, Bamboo
Stamps: Picture Perfect, Dream Wishes
Other: Just Blooms - Big Pinks, Designer Pewter Brads, DE Perrenials, Clear Buttons, Cricut (title)

Introducing Studio J

One of the most exciting announcements at our Close To My Heart Leadership Conference was the introduction of Studio J. This new program was 3 years in the making. Close To My Heart has really done their research in designing a program that offers endless options and creativity with complete ease of use and VERY competitive pricing.

What am I talking about? It's is our new Online Design software that goes way beyond "digital". This is really just an extention of our classic scrapbooking - which will always remain our focus. Just as our Level 1 scrapbooking kits offer thel option of beautiful layouts in no time at all, our online design software will offer an even quicker way to move your precious memories from your digital camera to your coffee table scrapbooks!

At release, you will be able to choose from 25 of our Cherish and Imagine layouts, 40 different kits (CTMH paper packs that you know and love - including Giggles & Grins!), and add any of our coordinating stickease and embellishments. With the click of a mouse you can drop and drag or change the size of the stickease. For titles and journaling you can choose from one of our fonts or even Jeanette's own handwriting! And with a click of the mouse, you can change the color of any of the embellishments. And get this - they have even included a safeguard to allow you to choose only colors that coordinate with the kit so that your projects are perfectly coordinated and beautifully arranged every time! But don't think that you will be too limited - at release, there will be 192,000 different options to choose from - and that's even BEFORE you begin to personalize it!

The drag and drop feature is SO easy, you can move your photos onto the layout and it will automatically crop and center it in the space. Want to place the image in your photo off center? Simply move it with the mouse. Want to change your photos to black & white or sepia tones? It's just a click away!

There is SO much more to this new program I'd love to share with you. In fact, it will be released to customers in Spring 2010. But consultants will have a preview period coming soon. PLUS consultants will receive a HUGE discount during that preview period! If you have thought about joining Close To My Heart as a hobbyist or consultant, NOW is the time! I'd love to have you join my team and take advantage of ALL Close To My Heart has to offer! Contact me for more details if you are interested. I will be hosting a preview/training class for consultants on this software in the next month or so.

In the meantime, you can check out the introductory video at Studio J here and be sure to sign up for email updates so you can be the first to know all about Studio J!
We're thanking you with FREE paper packs!

Back from Leadership and so much to share!

Oh my goodness!! I am back from our Leadership Conference in Long Beach, CA - what fun!! My two roomies were the best - Lisa Stenz and Pam Thor! I can't wait until next year in DC - it's going to be a blast and a bunch of us from my team will be going together which will be even more fun!

Check out this adorable gift Lisa made for Pam and I - cute, cute!! She is SO amazing!

Plus, Lisa was asked to submit a project for our Operation Smile fundraiser - which raised over $5,000!! In my humble opinion, her project was the best! Check it out here. Below is a sneak peek...

Pam and I toured Universal Studios on Sunday after the conference. It was so much fun! We had our picture taken with Lisa & Bart Simpson. Bart tried to take my purse! I was told to keep it hidden from him.

Pam is SO outgoing! She volunteered to help out in the Special Effects show and they picked her! I video taped it on her iPhone - but only got a few shots with my camera. She was GREAT! Screaming her head off while fighting a giant cat and sitting at the dinner table eating with the Clumps on the green screen.

It was an exciting conference, with wonderful friends, great food, and lots of fun! I can't wait for next year! I've got more to share...but in another post. This one is long enough! :o)
