There is a new product in our Wings Workshop Kit and also available in the new Spring/Summer Idea Book - our new Spray Pens! These little puppies are addicting! You can mix all sorts of colors and even add a little pearl paint for some shimmering effects! However, when using pearl paint, immediately after you have finished spraying, remove the nozzle and immerse the tip of the suction tube in warm water. Spray until clear.
I also suggest you lay your project inside of a shallow box to spray to protect your work area. You can also add a few beads to your tube to help mix the paint mixture.
Come to my Creative Club this month or my Open House to try out this cool new technique and product!

**I was just made aware that I mis-spelled celebrate above! UGH! I've corrected that in the top photo! Can I use the blonde excuse again??!!**
On 4 of the sections, I sprayed them with our HOT NEW product - the Spray Pen - filled with Sky re-inker and water. Then I lightly spritzed it with a pen filled with Pacifica re-inker and water. It was SO easy and dried SO quickly!

At our church we meet during the week in small groups to study Sunday's sermon and dig deeper, but it is also a great venue to get to know each other better and be involved in each other's lives. Well in an effort to branch out and get to know even more people on an intimate level, we decided to crash another small group and serve them DINNER! It was so cool. I look forward to the next crazy thing we do!
Anyway, the purpose of this post is to share my recipe. We chose an Italian theme - it was delicious! My part was to provide dessert. So I made this Italian Cream Cake - from Southern Living. It was very rich and moist - and GOOD.
Here is the very last slice! Good to the last crumb!
Italian Cream Cake
Prep: 24 min.
Cook: 25 min.
A light brushing of rum on these coconutty cake layers seals in moistness. It's a very rick cake, ideal for a special occasion.
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
5 large eggs, separated
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
2/3 cup finely chopped pecans
1 (3 1/2 oz.) can flaked coconut
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
3 tablespoons light rum
* Grease three 9-inch round cakepans; line with wax paper. Grease and flour wax paper. Set aside.
* Beat butter at meduim speed with an electric mixer until creamy; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating after each addition.
* Combine flour and soda; add to butter mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix at low speed after each addition until blended. Stir in pecans, coconut, and vanilla.
* Beat egg whites at high speed until foamy. Add cream of tartar; beat until stiff peaks form. Gently fold egg whites into batter. Pour batter into prepared pans.
* Bake at 350 for 25 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 minutes; remove from pans, and peel off wax paper. Cool layers completely on wire racks.
* Sprinkle each cake layer with 1 tablespoon rum. Let stand 10 minutes. Spread Deluxe Pecan-Cream Cheese Frosting between layers and on top and sides of cake. Store in refrigerator.
Deluxe Pecan-Cream Cheese Frosting
This frosting is slightly softer than the traditionl recipe. Extra cream cheese and butter enrich the frosting and give it a little more volume.
1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
1 (3 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 (16 oz.) package powdered sugar, sifted
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Beat first 3 ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating at low speed until light and fluffy. Stir in chopped pecans and vanilla. Yield: 3 1/2 cups.

I just returned from an OUTSTANDING event for team builders and leaders in Close To My Heart. I have always been very impressed with the leadership at Close To My Heart - from Jeanette, to her VP's on down to the staff - but THIS event just confirmed what a great company this is and how grateful I am to be a part of it!
We were given a sneak peek at some potential changes in policy (trust me - it's GREAT!) and upcoming product releases and marketing strategy. I just felt so honored to be entrusted with this information - but even more so to be asked for my feedback! WOW! I LOVE MY JOB!
There were 60 consultants present and each one of us got to spend one-on-one time with one of the corporate leaders for a Personal Business Review - to determine how we were doing and how they could help. They helped us identify areas where we excel and areas that need strengthening. My mentor even worked with me to set goals and will follow up with me to help me acheive them! I'm honored, overwhelmed, amazed, and so excited to be a part of this outstanding company! As I left this review, I was presented with a pair of gloves (to wear to dinner later that night) and a flower pin made solely out of CTMH products!
In addition to business classes, we also had a creative project - OF COURSE - one which I need to finish putting together to show you. BUT, I will say that they gave us some wonderful new product to play with and KEEP! In addition to new products they also gave EACH ONE OF US a rolling tote FILLED - I mean JAM PACKED - with retired product! I heard someone say over $1,500 worth! WOWZA! Then we could each fill a bag with additional product that wouldn't fit in the TOTE! (Of course we had to find a way to get it all home, but WOW, what a blessing!)
First Flap opened:
Next section opened:
I really didn't do a good job of spreading things out for you to see!! It's a TON!!
Everyone also received a new stamp set. I got Dreams Come True:
For each of the stamp sets given away, they had artwork displayed on the tables in the back for even more wonderful ideas!!
Everyone also received a beautiful leather journal and pens:
Each of my uplines had a gift for me too! (Thank you Lisa, Denise, and Sheri!)
And of course my awesome roomies had gifts for me too! (Wish I had a picture to post of these beautiful ladies! Love you Christine D., Mary T., and Sue N.!!!!)
This card set was created using only this stamp set (except for the inside of the cd tin). I love the all inclusive versatility of this set! It has letters, numbers, punctuation, brackets, flowers, leaves/flourishes - EVERYTHING you need to get your creative mojo on!
I used a CD tin, decorated inside and out and put three cards inside.
Outside of tin:
Inside of tin:
The three cards - aren't they cute?
I chose a Color Me Monday color theme from Jeanette Lynton's blog. (You can see her fabulous version here.) I used only cardstock, a little dry embossing, 3-D foam tape to pop up a few of the flowers and letters to give them more dimension, liquid glass and prisma glitter in the centers of each of the flowers. I also used a technique I learned in the Art & Soul videos on my website. It's marbeling with liquid glass. On the inside of the CD tin are two white cardstock hearts. I scrunched up a piece of clean printer paper, dabbed it into a puddle of liquid glass and then tapped it randomly on my hearts. After setting it aside to dry, I sponged my ink on each heart to reveal the marbeling effect! So easy! So cool!

I created a shadow of the butterfly underneath so that I wouldn't have to cut out the antenna. For the shadow I used black ink. For the cut-out butterfly, I used second-generation Vineyard Berry ink. Then of course I had to add a little Prisma glitter to glam it up a bit. I also added a few black pearls from our Opaques Licorice collection. I used black StazOn ink on our pewter Filigree Charms brads for the flower centers.

What you can't see in the photo is that I've used clear embossing powder on the butterfly, and popped up his wings with 3-D foam tape. I inked the butterfly with Sweet Leaf ink then added some Vineyardberry and Black using sponge daubers. After I stamped the butterfly, I stamped over top with VersaMark ink sprinked with Clear Embossing powder and heat set it to add the shine! (You will see this technique, step-by-step, in the new Spring/Summer Idea book!) I've added a few sweet leaf bitty sparkles and black bitty pearls. Also used our permanent StazOn black ink around the edges of the clear card. PLUS, this card pattern is from the Wings WOTG kit! LOVE it!!
This card was designed by fellow CTMH consultant Krista Ritskes. What you can't really see in the photo is the butterfly on the front is popped up on 3-D foam tape. I added a few clear bitty sparkles and also popped up the sentiment on 3-D foam tape. The butterfly is stamped in Vineyardberry ink and rolled in black. On the inside of the card, the butterfly is also stamped in Vineyardberry ink and rolled in black, but stamped in second generation ink.
I made this chili yesterday for my meat-less son. It was really good! Got it out of my Southern Living magazine. I especially loved that it is filled with healthy things, but tastes like comfort food! The picture is not the best, but don't let that stop you from trying this - it really is good!
Makes: 12-15 servings
Hands-On Time: 20 min.
Total Time: 55 min.
2 large carrots, diced
1 medium onion, diced
1 TBSP vegetable oil
1 (3.625 oz.) package chili seasoning kit*
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
3 cups tomato juice
2 (14.5 oz.) cans diced tomatoes, undrained
2 (15 oz.) cans black beans, drained & rinsed
2 (15 oz.) cans great Northern beans, drained & rinsed
1 large zucchini, chopped
1 yellow squash, chopped
1 cup frozed whole kernel corn
Toppings:chopped fresh cilantro, sour cream, chopped green onions, shredded sharp Cheddar Cheese, chopped tomatoes
1. Saute carrots and onion in hot oil in a 5-6 qt. Dutch oven over medium heat 7 minutes or until onions are translucent. Stir in half of red pepper packet from chili kit; stir in all of remaining packets. Saute mixture 2 minutes. Stir in tomato sauce and next 7 ingredients.
2. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat to medium low, and simmer, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Serve with desired toppings.
*Note: they tested with Wick Fowler's 2 Alarm Chili Kit. I used the only one our store carried - Carroll Shelby Chili Kit - and it was excellent. The half packet of red pepper was just enough "heat" for me. If you want to add more bite, use more of the red pepper packet.

Monthly (no-commitment) Creative Club
Do you like to make fun projects at a great price or for FREE? Do you like to learn new techniques? Do you like to earn free products? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, my Creative Club is for you!
Starting in January, my Creative Club will meet the last Monday of each month at 7pm at my house, however, you do not need to be local to be part of the club. My long distance members get their kits mailed to them and any orders they place get drop shipped to them directly from the Close to my Heart office.
Here is more information on the Club:
You may join the club at any time and there is no commitment to stay in the club for any length of time or to place an order. There will be a small fee (depending on the project) for the supplies used for the projects we make which will range from cards to small gift items, to scrapbook pages, and more. Each person who signs up for this club will have their name added to the bottom of the hostess list. The person whose name is on the top of the list will get the hostess rewards that month. In order for your name to keep its “place” on the list, you must place a $25 minimum order whether you attend the class that month or not. If you do not place a $25+ order that month, then your name goes down to the bottom of the list. If you do place a $25+ order, then your name continues to move up the list AND you will get $5 off your kit for that class. (For example, if the class is $10 that month, your kit will only be $5 or if the class is $5 that month, your kit will be FREE!) Long distance members pay an additional $5 to have their project kits mailed to them.
Club members will also receive:
* A free current Idea Book/Catalog the month before it goes live!
* Free Hostess Rewards during your hosting month
* Optional monthly classes with project kits - meaning you can participate virtually!
* Opportunity to hold a home workshop, gathering, or catalog party to boost your hostess benefits
* $5 discounts on all of my other workshops and classes while you are a member
* Lots of other freebies and surprises...
Contact me for more information, to sign up for next month’s class, or to order your own club kit(s).
You can also check my blog and/or CTMH website for upcoming club projects.
