How-To Books Almost Gone!

One of the very first things I fell in love with when I was introduced to Close To My Heart products was how everything was designed to easily coordinate! The papers - inks - accessories - it made my purchasing and creative process faster, simpler, and easier!

The SECOND thing that I fell in love with and now consider a "must have" are our How-To Books! As you browse through our Idea Book and Catalog, you will see a notation underneath layouts and cards that indicate the pattern that was used. They list the book and pattern so you can easily recreate these projects on your own!

The How-To Books are so versatile! You can use the same pattern over and over - but with different papers & embellishments, or by simply rotating the page/pattern, etc. you can create completely different looks! These beautiful full color, hardback books will make a beautiful addition to your craft room and how-to library.

Did you know that these books are being retired and will no longer be available very soon? Once supplies run out of each one, they will be gone! If you don't have these books or haven't completed your collection, I highly recommend that you get yours today!  Priced at only $21.95 each, these books are expected to sell out soon!

There are four Scrapbook How-To Books:

You'll love the newly updated Reflections™ program which features 100 12" × 12" scrapbook pages. Each layout pattern comes complete with a shaded blueprint, detailed assembly instructions, companion layout guides, photo options, and creative techniques sure to make your memories come to life.

This beautiful new hardbound book is similar to the Reflections programs with blueprints, step-by-step instructions, and photo suggestions, but it’s really in a league all of its own. It is a stand-alone publication that will look simply fabulous on a bookshelf or coffee table. It features 50 12" × 12" two-page scrapbook concepts as well as in-depth instructions for unique art techniques, accessory suggestions for every concept, detailed cutting diagrams, step-by-step assembly instructions, a thumbnail index, and all the artwork recipes.

Create your own 12" × 12" designer layouts with Jeanette Lynton’s second volume of incredible scrapbooking patterns. Packed with 50 all new, two-page patterns, complete cutting diagrams, and assembly instructions, plus inspiring techniques, Imagine™ is every scrapbooker’s best friend. Check out the first volume, Cherish™, the book that elevated passion for scrapbooking. Both gorgeous, hardback books feature full-color photos and are coffee-table worthy! (Cherish sold separately.)

Bring magic to your scrapbook layouts using clever interactive techniques. You'll add hands-on excitment and dramatically increase your photo and journaling space using pop-ups, pull-outs, slides, cascades, and more! Magic™ also includes 35 gorgeous 12" x 12" layout patterns that can be used on their own or with the interactive techniques. (DVD included.)

And two Card How-To Books:

Create beautiful handmade cards with confidence using the numerous patterns in our exquisite hardbound Originals™ program. With exact dimensions, fold placement guides, blueprints, and step-by-step instructions, every aspiring cardmaker or crafting pro will love Originals. Feast on the gorgeous, full-color artwork sprinkled throughout the pages and then make cards of your own, simply and easily, with Originals!

Operation Smile - Maria

Though the first 5 years of Maria's life were filled with hardship and pain, she now has a reason to smile and a bright future ahead of her!

A Broken Family... A New Smile, A New Life for Maria

Abandoned by both her parents, Maria Eulália Cabralda Costa faced incomprehensible pain during her first five years of life in Brazil. She was born with a cleft lip that scarred her beautiful features. Her parents separated when she was just a baby, and her father chose two of her siblings to live with him. Her mother chose two others. Neither of them wanted Maria, a beautiful little girl with huge eyes that reflect her emotions. When Maria’s parents left her, the city’s Child Protection Council called her grandmother, who chose to raise her small granddaughter.

As Maria grew older, she begged her grandmother to allow her to skip school. Her classmates taunted and tormented her, yelling, “You are crippled. Stay away from me.” Maria was too embarrassed to even play with children in her neighborhood. If she ventured from her home, she covered her mouth with her hands.

Maria’s grandmother was determined to find help for her granddaughter. She first approached the mayor of her city, who was also a doctor. Eventually, a government official directed her to Operation Smile. When she arrived at the medical mission in Fortaleza, 5-year-old Maria immediately captured the hearts of all the medical volunteers.

After her surgery, she was bursting with laughter and smiles. “I’m so very happy,” said her grandmother. “She plays, runs, talks. She is completely different. Everything has changed for the best. She is not ashamed anymore. Now, she is always looking at herself in the mirror. She always says that she is beautiful, that she is gorgeous. It was everything we have ever wanted.”
Maria now looks forward to school and works very hard.

Would you like to be a part of this mission to reclaim, recapture, TRANSFORM a child's life? Please join me in supporting Operation Smile! Click here to donate on my website (on the left hand side under Operation Smile - Donate). No purchase is necessasry. And THANK YOU for joining with me to transform lives like Maria's!

Cricut Crop - Lucy Version

Last month I held my first Cricut Crop - where everyone got to learn a little about their Cricut machines, mats, blades, settings and of course our Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge. Then we all made projects on our Cricuts using our Roxie papers - with a Valentine's Theme. There was one group that didn't get to participate before Valentine's Day, so I needed to redesign the projects a little. I decided to use our new Lucy paper - and here is what I came up with!

What's so cool about this is everyone who took the first class can pretty much use those instructions to create these and other variations on their own! The foundations are the same, I just changed some of the embellishments - and of course the papers.

The first one is using our kraft card to create a treat holder. I used Little Debbie Fancy Cakes for this project. (LOVE Little Debbie's!) I added some 3-D roses to the oval on the front, along with a sentiment from one of the stamps in the Cricut Collection, and some of our color ready ribbon at the top - only, I didn't color it! It was perfect as is!

The next re-make is the chinese to-go box. The first time around I made a nugget box with a truffle inside. This time I used the same size box for a little Fresh Linen votive candle! The sentiment is from the Remarkable Wreath stamp set.

On top of the box I added some layered flat flowers and leaves.

And finally the door hanger re-make. I seem to have a habit of using the door hangers on drinks with a snack stuck in the pocket. This time, I put flower seeds in the pocket and tied the top to a set of garden gloves!

The sentiment on the front is from our May stamp of the month - Friendship Bouquet. It reads "Plant a seed of friendship; reap a bouquet of happiness. Lois L. Kaufman". Perfect - huh????

So there you have it! A project re-make, made easy with Close To My Heart products and the Art Philosophy Cricut Collection!
